Special Actuarial Studies

Self-Funding Actuarial Services, Inc. provides on an ongoing basis these specialized actuarial-type research studies:

1.      Claims Data Projection Factors

The final product is a Projection Factor Table which provides the user with such projection factor applicable to say, month ending October with nine months of claims:  The Factor is 1.46 e.g., (and not 1.33) because of claims seasonality.

2.      COBRA-Related Stop-Loss Modifications

These modifications involve the assessment to the employer (or plan) of the additional expected and actuarially-determined costs of lasering and the aggregating specific.

3.      American with Disability Act Adjustments

The ADA permits benefit variations which are health status-oriented so long as the benefit variations have a demonstratable actuarial and underwriting parity.  Instances of such application of actuarial underwriting methodology include the following:

·        Mental care benefit variations

·        Benefit variations based upon a living will

·        Efficacy measure of demand management.
